From Rides to Journeys: Rethinking Modern Dispatch

BTOA Introduces Journi and Announces Formation of Journi Ltd

Journi Ltd is a BTOA-owned company delivering the Journi Mobility Platform — Bermuda’s locally operated, professional taxi booking platform.

Hamilton, Bermuda — The Bermuda Taxi Owners & Operators Association (BTOA) is proud to introduce Journi, a locally owned, managed mobility platform designed to modernise how licensed Bermuda transport services are booked, coordinated, and delivered. Journi is not simply a digital booking tool. It is a professionally managed transport system that combines smart technology, live dispatch oversight, and licensed Bermudian drivers into one accountable framework.

As part of this strategic step forward, BTOA confirms the formation of Journi Ltd, a Bermuda-registered limited liability company wholly owned by the Bermuda Taxi Owners & Operators Association. Journi Ltd has been established to operate, manage, and continuously develop the Journi platform on behalf of the local transport industry.

Journi builds on BTOA’s existing dispatch capabilities and introduces a fully integrated system that strengthens reliability, visibility, and service standards across the island.

Journi provides:

  • On-demand and pre‑scheduled transport bookings
  • Access to licensed Bermuda drivers island‑wide
  • Real-time journey visibility and trip notifications
  • Flexible digital payment options
  • A hybrid operating model that combines intelligent routing with live human dispatch oversight

Journi is designed around accountability, safety, and professionalism. It reflects the expectations of modern travellers while reinforcing the experience and standards of Bermuda’s licensed operators.

This is managed mobility — not anonymous ride-matching.

Built by the Industry, for Bermuda

Journi is an industry-led platform created to ensure that technology serving Bermuda works in the best interests of the professionals who deliver transport services every day.

By establishing Journi Ltd as a locally incorporated company owned by BTOA, the Association is ensuring:

  • Local ownership and governance
  • Responsible data management
  • Transparent oversight
  • Long-term alignment with Bermuda’s regulatory and community standards

Journi strengthens the industry rather than bypassing it. It protects professional standards rather than diluting them.

Commitment to Compliance and Regulatory Partnership

BTOA and Journi Ltd remain fully committed to working in partnership with Bermuda’s regulatory authorities. Journi Ltd has submitted its application to the Transport Control Department (TCD) and the Public Service Vehicles Licensing Board (PSVLB) for the relevant dispatching licence and permit.

The Association looks forward to formal approval in advance of the upcoming peak season, supporting a smooth and compliant introduction of the platform. Journi has been designed to operate within Bermuda’s existing regulatory framework — not outside of it.

A Structured and Phased Introduction

Journi will be introduced through a phased rollout designed to ensure stability, driver readiness, and partner alignment.

This approach allows for:

  • Structured onboarding for licensed drivers
  • Operational refinement
  • Partner integration
  • Continuous quality assurance

Further updates regarding timelines and onboarding phases will be shared through BTOA’s official communications channels.

A Message to Licensed Owners and Operators

Journi exists because the industry chose to take ownership of its future. BTOA encourages all licensed owners and operators to participate in the Journi platform — not simply as users, but as stakeholders.

Participation means:

  • Having a voice in how the system evolves
  • Contributing to fair and transparent job distribution
  • Protecting professional standards
  • Ensuring technology decisions remain in local hands

Journi is not designed to replace drivers. It is designed to strengthen them. Clear standards, managed oversight, and professional accountability create confidence for customers and pride within the industry.

Looking Ahead

The launch of Journi and the establishment of Journi Ltd represent a measured and forward-looking step for Bermuda’s transport sector.

By combining technology, human oversight, and professional drivers within one accountable system, BTOA is helping to ensure that Bermuda’s transport infrastructure remains trusted, regulated, and aligned with the island’s standards of service.

Further announcements will follow as the phased rollout progresses. BTOA invites members, partners, and the public to stay informed through official Association updates.
